Cochem lies just 8 kilometres from Ellenz and is a stunning little town. It lies in the shadow of the mighty Reichsburg castle, well worth a visit. There are buses up to the castle however it is an enjoyable walk through the town to the top. Cochem also has a diverse and interesting variety of shops, a great place to buy your souvenirs.

One of the joy's of the Mosel is cycling which offers a great way to get around.
Once a year there is "Happy Mosel day" where a great chunk of the Moselstrasse is given over to bicycles only. This year's Happy Mosel day is on the 19th June. More infomation on this event can be found at;

If you would like to hire a bicycle for your holiday there are many local services from which to choose. Included in these is a local company who also offers canoe tours on the Mosel along with bicycle hire, they also hire out electric assisted bicycles to make life a little easier. Another great cycling shop is "Rad Sport Schrauth" in Cochem. Here you can buy or rent your bicycle. They also carry out repairs and carry a large stock of spare parts to suit most bicyles.

A great and fun way to see Cochem is to take the Mosel Wein Express. This delightful little tourist train winds its way around Cochem taking in all the various attractions. A family favourite and fun for the kids.
