Your historic holiday home on the Mosel

Local information

As nature unlocks each season of the year you can be assured that the Mosel valley has something for every visitor. Although the Mosel sleeps during the winter the morning mists high on the hilltops and the un-bridled beauty never stops. The peace of the winter is something to savour. The valley slowly awakens in early spring as the days grow longer the Weinguts start to come alive.
By March with Easter insight and the buds bursting into life the valley is awake. From March until November this amazing part of the world is a treasure chest of experiences. We have endeavoured to list some of the most popular local attractions but the list is not exhaustive. The highlights for every village are the weinfests and none so much as Ellenz where the whole village is involved.

On our links page you will see links to the various tourist attractions and places of interest. Whilst we endeavour to ensure that information is current and correct, please check with the specific location to confirm.

From Ellenz there is a reliable bus service to Cochem and Zell. Cochem has a main line train service and it is possible to connect to all of Europe including the Eurotunnel to England.

For those of you who love swimming Cochem has an indoor swimming pool as well as a seasonal outdoor pool that is open during the summer months (from June)
Ellenz also has an outdoor heated pool that is open from May and is a wonderful way to relax with or without the children and is only a short walk through the vineyards.

The Nurburgring is about half an hour from Ellenz and offers an exciting day out for all the family, from concerts to car racing and a theme park.
The Mosel valley from Koblenz to Trier has a culture and history dating back to Roman times. The most important of which is the wine. There are many independent vineyards to see and where you can sample and buy the wine.

Walking is a favourite in the Mosel valley. There are many walks for all abilities, the most challenging being the Calmont-Klettersteig, which covers the steepest vineyards in the world.

Cycling is also very popular; a day following the river through the valley is a great way to explore the area. We have two touring bikes available for hire at just 6 Euros per day each. If you would like any further information please ask
